Mexican officials announced today that the number of people who died due to the flood caused by category 5 hurricane Otis that reached the land in southern Mexico on Wednesday increased to 39. The identities of the dead have not yet been disclosed. Meanwhile, there are 10 people who went missing in the flood waters. Flood-hit areas are receiving food and water aid, and security has been increased against the risk of looting.
Children battling with cancer in damaged hospitals were transferred to Mexico City to prevent their treatment from being interrupted.
