New South Wales Police Chief Karen Webb gave new information about the stabbing attack in a shopping mall in Australia’s Sydney at the press conference. Stating that the number of dead people increased to 7 including the attacker, Webb said that 8 people, including a 9-month-old baby, continue to receive treatment in hospitals. No information on the 40-year-old offender’s identity was not given but the attack is thought not be a terrorist attack.

Dog taxes across Germany increased in 2025, with some municipalities doubling their rates. In Landshut and Bocholt, taxes jumped from €30–€42 to €60–€84. Cities like Gütersloh now charge up to €120 annually.

The dog tax (Hundesteuer), collected to regulate pet ownership, reached €421 million in 2023. Dangerous breeds face much higher rates—up to €1,660 in Bretten. Guide dogs are tax-exempt.

Dog owners in cities like Berlin, Cologne, and Munich pay between €100 and €176 per year. Second dogs are taxed at higher rates, with some cities charging over €300. Non-payment can result in fines up to €10,000.
