The death toll from Israel’s attack on the south of the Lebanese capital Beirut yesterday has risen to 14. Authorities also said that there were currently 66 people injured.
In a statement regarding Israel’s attack on Beirut, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati accused Israel of not caring about any humanitarian, legal or moral issues. Meanwhile, John Kirby, the Strategic Communications Coordinator for the US National Security Council, said the US was not informed about the attack in advance.
Hundreds of thousands of Iranians took to the streets after Friday prayers to protest Israel’s recent attacks on the country. The largest gatherings occurred in the capital, Tehran, where demonstrators marched following prayers at Tehran University.
High-ranking officials, including Iran’s Constitutional Court head Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei and former IRGC commander Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari, joined the protest. Participants waved Iranian, Palestinian, and resistance group flags, and trampled on Israeli and US flags laid on the ground.
Protesters held banners reading “Down with Israel”, “Down with the US”, and “The Zionist regime will be destroyed”, while chanting slogans such as “We stand behind our leader”, “Everyone who clashed with Khamenei will eventually be destroyed”, and “Our right to nuclear weapons”.
