Death toll rose to 96 after cyclone Batsirai made landfall in Nosy Varika, Madagascar on February 5. The cyclone slammed into the southern east of the country, where houses were destroyed and damaged. More than 150,000 people have become homeless, and 650,000 others are estimated to be affected by the cyclone, officials have reported. Power outages hit the area as power lines were damaged.
