Deutsche Post has announced plans to lay off 8,000 employees in Germany by the end of the year due to rising costs and declining profits.
The layoffs, aimed at saving over €1 billion, will primarily affect workers in letter and package distribution. The decision follows a 7.2% drop in the company’s annual operating profit.
Deutsche Post, which employs 187,000 people nationwide, joins other major German industries, including the automotive sector, in announcing workforce reductions.
