Pro-Palestinian dockworkers at the Piraeus Port in Greece blocked a container allegedly carrying ammunition to Israel from being loaded onto a cargo ship yesterday evening. The workers, who are members of various labor unions and groups, chanted slogans such as “The blood of the people will not stain our hands” and “Freedom for Palestine” and spray-painted “Murderers, get out of the port” on the container.
The Piraeus Port Workers Union and Piraeus Workers’ Center President said that the decision to stop the shipment of military supplies was made at a meeting held the previous day and that they would not allow war materials to be transported through the port.
