The dog days of summer continue to affect Türkiye’s Megacity, Istanbul. The scorching heat has given citizens and tourists a hard time for the last two days. At Gezi Park in Taksim Square, one of the busiest spots in the city, some chose to rest under the shade of trees, while others poured bottles of water down their heads to cool off. The heat wave also affected animals, like the birds that bathed in the fountain in the park.

Istanbulites Flock to Beaches on Eid

On the first day of Eid al-Adha, Istanbul residents headed to the beaches to escape the heat after performing animal sacrifices. Public beaches in Büyükçekmece and Küçükçekmece saw large crowds, with drone footage capturing the influx of holidaymakers.

The hot weather is expected to persist, with similar crowds anticipated at beaches and recreational areas throughout the holiday.
