Former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump spoke to the press about the assassination attempt carried out against him two days ago. Stating that he may have died at the podium, Trump said he was saved “by luck or by God”. Referring to the fact that the 55,000 people at the rally did not panic at the time of the attack, Trump said, “In many places, especially in football matches, when a single gunshot is heard, everyone runs. Here, many shots were fired and they stayed. I love them. They are great people.”
One of the bullets fired the attack at the election rally held in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, pierced Trump’s right ear, killed 1 person attending the rally and injured 2 more . The attacker, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot to death at the scene by the Secret Service.
