dozens of Flights cancelled as workers strike at airports in Paris

The employees of Air France who provide ground services have decided to strike from June 30 to July 1. The General Directorate of Civil Aviation then requested a 17 percent flight reduction from airlines. Paris’s Charles de Gaulle and Roissy airports had to cancel some flights as a result of the strike. Two of the four runways remained closed between 7:00 and 14:00 local time, while just 10% of flights to and from Charles de Gaulle Airport were canceled. 62 flights were reportedly canceled by the nation’s flag carrier airline, Air France.

Negotiations between a Paris-based international airport operator, Aeroports de Paris, and workers’ representatives are ongoing, but no agreement has been reached so far. Workers are demanding raises to improve working conditions and to counter inflation. Members of the General Confederation of Labour (CGT) state that they will continue to strike unless their demands are met.
