The Dutch activist group “Netherlands in Resistance” (Nederland in Verzet) protested the government’s COVID-19 policy in Amsterdam. Demonstrators gathered to mark the one-year anniversary of “the Coffee Battle,” in which they drank coffee in protest of the government’s policy, which resulted in riots last year. They marched with banners and yellow umbrellas where they frequently shouted anti-government slogans.
The government recently have decided to close bars, restaurants and cultural venues until at least January 25, amid uncertainty over how the patient capacity of hospitals will be affected due to the Omicron variant of Covid-19.
