€6 Billion Pledged for Syria at Brussels Conference

The 9th Brussels Conference on Syria secured nearly €6 billion in aid for the war-torn country, with the Syrian side attending for the first time. The European Commission confirmed €4.2 billion in grants and €1.6 billion in low-interest loans.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced an increase in EU aid to €2.5 billion for 2025-2026, urging other donors to contribute. Meanwhile, Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Nuh Yılmaz called for the unconditional lifting of sanctions and emphasized Syria’s economic recovery for stability.

Germany pledged €300 million, while the US did not commit any funds.

Gaza Death Toll From Israel’s Attacks Rises to 55,998

The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that 55,998 people have been killed and 131,599 injured in Gaza since Israel’s attacks began on October 7, 2023.

In the past 24 hours alone, 39 deaths and 317 injuries were recorded, with many civilians still trapped under rubble. The ministry also stated that 17 Palestinians were killed and 136 wounded during Israeli attacks on humanitarian aid distribution, bringing the total aid-related death toll to 467 and injuries to 3,602.

Since Israel’s ceasefire violation on March 18, 2025, 5,685 have died and 19,518 have been injured.
