Excavations in Bartın’s Amasra district in Türkiye have uncovered the remains of a marble-columned structure believed to have been damaged by earthquakes and floods around 1,600 years ago. The structure, thought to date back to between 300 and 400 AD, was discovered during rescue excavations initiated by Amasra Museum in 2022, which have since transitioned into scientific work under a Presidential Decree. Led by Bartın University and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, efforts are ongoing to precisely date the natural disasters that led to the structure’s collapse and subsequent burial.
