A 6.2-magnitude earthquake occurred in the city of Isla in the state of Veracruz, the Mexican National Seismological Service stated. The earthquake was felt primarily in the state of Veracruz, as well as in the surrounding states of Oaxaca, Puebla and Mexico, and in the capital city of Mexico City. Citizens in many buildings, especially government offices, were evacuated for security purposes. Authorities said there was no loss of life or property in the incident.
Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador was caught in the earthquake at a press conference at the National Palace in the capital. President Lopez Obrador and the journalists in the building were evacuated upon the warnings of the journalists.
