Eastern Anatolia Research Center goes into service in Turkey’s Erzurum

Eastern Anatolia Urban Projects Implementation and Research Center was put into service with a ceremony. The opening of the center, which was built in one of the restored historical old Erzurum houses next to the historical Erzurum castle, was held today at a ceremony attended by Erzurum Governor and Atatürk University Rector.

The important feature of the center is that it is the first and only research center in the region established with the cooperation of the university and the municipality. Transferring the knowledge and experience of expert architects, city planners, engineers, economists and many researchers at the university to the city in cooperation with the Municipality will be the primary goal of the center. The center’s activities are not only limited to Erzurum, but also aim to protect the natural, cultural and historical richness of the Eastern Anatolia Region and bring it to the city’s economy, to plan healthy and quality living spaces, and to produce projects for problematic areas in the city.

EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas said most EU member states support reviewing ties with Israel over its actions in Gaza. Speaking after the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, Kallas confirmed growing support for revisiting the EU-Israel Association Agreement.

She noted that while sanctions on Israeli settlers and ministers had been proposed, they were blocked by one member state. Kallas also stressed that Ukraine remains a priority and criticized Russia for rejecting a ceasefire accepted by Ukraine over 60 days ago.
