An endangered shortfin mako shark, found alive but unable to be rescued in Mersin, Türkiye, was taken to the Maritime Museum for evaluation. Despite extensive efforts by Coast Guard teams and experts, including attempts to return it to the sea, the shark, carrying a fishing hook, tragically washed ashore again and succumbed. This endangered species was then transferred to Mersin University Faculty of Fisheries for further examination, highlighting the challenges faced by these endangered creatures.
