Energy production at the EÜAŞ Afşin-Elbistan B Thermal Power Plant in Türkiye’s Kahramanmaraş province has been halted for at least six months following a collapse at the ash dumping area of Çelikler Holding’s Afşin-Elbistan Lignite site. The plant, which had resumed operations after the February earthquakes, now faces a coal supply disruption, resulting in significant energy losses. This incident adds to the long-standing challenges faced by the nearby Çöllolar Coal Enterprise, which remains closed after a deadly collapse in 2011.
