In the latest incident of attacks on artworks by environmental activists, two individuals affiliated with the environmental group Aterstall Vatmarker (Revive Wetlands) targeted a renowned painting at Stockholm National Museum in the capital city of Sweden. The artwork in question is Claude Monet’s “The Artist’s Garden at Giverny,” created in 1900.
The activists defaced the painting with red paint and placed their hands on it, resulting in their prompt detention by the police. The museum has stated that it is currently assessing whether the artwork suffered any damage, with museum curators carefully inspecting the piece.
