Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov continues his contacts in Azerbaijan. Minister Lavrov met with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ceyhun Bayramov, in the capital Baku. The ministers held a joint press conference after the meeting. Targeting the European Union (EU) and NATO once again through the Russia-Ukraine war, Lavrov said, “When the Second World War began, Hitler gathered a significant part, if not the majority, of European countries under his banner for the war against the Soviet Union. Currently the European Union, together with NATO, is forming such a modern coalition to fight against Russia.”
Lavrov also said that they do not believe that the anti-Russian attitude in the EU will change in the foreseeable and long-term, and that this is the path chosen by the Europeans, and said, “Of course, we will monitor the steps taken by the European Union and candidate countries.” Lavrov noted that European politicians are trying to dictate how the Belgrade administration should act, but Serbia sets an example that does not want to give up its political independence.
