European Union leaders have approved an €800 billion defense plan in response to growing security concerns, marking a significant step toward a more independent European defense strategy.
EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called it a historic moment, while EU Council President Antonio Costa emphasized the urgency of strengthening Europe’s defense capabilities. He stated that the new plan includes concrete measures to enhance military resources, boost the economy, and protect citizens.
The agreement follows months of strategic discussions aimed at reinforcing Europe’s security in one of its most critical periods since World War II.
