European Union Council President Charles Michel and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen held a joint press conference at the end of the first day of the EU Leaders Summit in Brussels, where they discussed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and Ukraine issues. Michel stated that the two-state solution was discussed during the summit and that they supported the idea of holding a peace conference soon. Leyen stated that all leaders made a strong call for Hamas to release all hostages without any preconditions.

Speaking at the 13th Meeting of High Security Officials in Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that a new round of direct negotiations with Ukraine will be announced shortly. He recalled that Istanbul hosted the first round on May 16 and said Russia will continue to demand the repeal of laws in Ukraine that restrict the Russian language, culture, and the Russian-linked Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Lavrov reiterated that Ukraine’s neutral status remains a key demand in peace efforts.
