The EU Commission has adopted new rules simplifying multiple-entry Schengen visas for Turkish citizens with a travel history and low-risk profile.
Effective July 15, 2025, the system allows for gradually longer visa durations: starting with 6-month visas, leading up to 5-year visas based on previous visa history. The decision aims to ease pressure on EU consulates and applies only to short-term visa applicants residing in Türkiye, excluding truck drivers.
The policy applies to most Schengen countries but excludes Ireland and allows Denmark to opt in voluntarily.
