European Union (EU) High Representative Josep Borrel emphasized Türkiye as a critical agenda item, discussing relations with the country in the EU Foreign Ministers Meeting in Brussels. Addressing Türkiye’s potential EU membership, Borrel stated that Ukraine’s possible membership could expedite the process for Türkiye and the entire Balkans, but noted that modernization of the Customs Union and visa issues need to be addressed first. Regarding the Grain Corridor Agreement in the Black Sea, Borrel acknowledged the necessity of increasing grain export capacity to Ukraine and neighboring countries.
