European Council President Antonio Costa said EU leaders agreed on the “One Europe, one market” proposal at an informal summit held at Alden Biesen Castle in Belgium. “In 1992, we moved from the common market to the single market. Now we are moving from the single market to an integrated and unified market,” Costa said.
Speaking alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Costa added that member states also reached consensus on advancing efforts to simplify EU rules to boost competitiveness ahead of the March leaders’ summit.
