EU to send military and financial aid to Ukraine

A joint press conference was held by President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron as the EU Term President, President of the European Council Charles Michel, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, in the first day of the EU Leaders’ Summit

During the meeting that held the first day sessions of the EU leaders, Michel said he witnessed the recommendation by the EU Commission to grant Ukraine and Moldova the “candidate country status” to the EU. He called this development a historic moment. “We have decided to give Ukraine financial and military aid,” Michel said.

Stating that they also met with the leaders of the Western Balkan countries, Michel said, “We agreed with the Western Balkan countries to reconsider the EU membership process, resolve some disputes and help them overcome their current difficulties.”

Michel said that during the meeting they also talked about Bosnia and Herzegovina, “The EU Commission will quickly prepare a report on Bosnia and Herzegovina. We are in preparation for cooperation with the Western Balkan countries within the scope of the idea of ​​a European political community.”
