An explosion rocked a thermal power plant in Shagonar, Tuva, Russia, injuring 23 people, six of them seriously. The blast occurred at 08:49 local time in the boiler room, triggering a fire and sending smoke billowing into the sky. Emergency teams rushed to the scene, evacuating workers and rescuing four individuals trapped in the boiler room. Fifteen workers, suffering from burns and carbon monoxide poisoning, were transported to regional hospitals, while eight others with minor injuries received outpatient treatment. The Russian Ministry of Health reported that six workers were in serious condition. An investigation by the Russian Investigative Committee and regional prosecutor’s office is underway, focusing on potential negligence related to the explosion. The incident disabled the central heating system in 62 apartments and 216 houses in Shagonar, impacting around 4,000 residents.
