A technical malfunction caused a deadly explosion at an ammunition factory in Balıkesir, Türkiye, killing 12 workers and injuring 4. The incident occurred in the capsule production section of the factory in the Kavaklı neighborhood around 08:25.
Balıkesir Governor İsmail Ustaoğlu confirmed that the blast was contained to one section of the ZSR company facility. He stated, “Identification is ongoing as we verify the electronic card entry records. Prosecutors and inspectors are investigating the cause.”
The injured workers are in stable condition, and security forces and ambulances remain on-site. The exact cause will be determined following expert evaluations.
