A 5-storey building in the city of Nizhnevartovsk in the Tyumen region of Russia partially collapsed due to an explosion occurred at 18:06 local time. According to initial reports, 4 people lost their lives and 10 were injured. Fifty two residents in the building managed to leave the building on their own.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia sent 109 personnel and 30 rescue vehicles to the scene.

In his statement, Nizhnevartovsk Mayor Dmitry Koshchenko stated that the search and rescue efforts continue, and that the explosion may have occurred due to a gas leak.

The incident is being investigated.
