An explosion in Romania’s Vrancea region during road construction on a natural gas pipeline has claimed four lives and left five individuals injured. The explosion was caused by a crack in the gas pipeline exposed during excavation work. Emergency services swiftly controlled the resulting fire, and the injured were transported to a nearby hospital. An investigation into the incident has been initiated.

Budapest is set to host the Organization of Turkic States (TDT) Informal Summit on May 20–21, marking the first time a country with observer status, Hungary, will host the event. The city has been decorated with TDT flags ahead of the summit, which will take place at the historic Varkert Bazar near the Danube.
Leaders from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Hungary are expected to attend. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will also hold bilateral talks during his visit.
The summit will focus on deepening strategic cooperation among Turkic states, with discussions on economic ties, security, and cultural heritage. The event will conclude with the adoption of the Budapest Declaration.
