During the 1970ʼs and 1980ʼs, many Japanese citizens disappeared under unusual circumstances. In the course of time, North Korea admitted that it had abducted Japanese citizens and apologized. As a result of the efforts made by Japanese governments, five abductees returned to Japan. Whereas the current North Korean government says the issue of abductions of Japanese nationals has already been resolved, 12 Japanese abductees remain unaccounted for.

Members of Italy’s opposition Five-Star Movement (M5S) wore black, white, and green T-shirts, representing the Palestinian flag, during a parliamentary session to protest the government’s stance on Gaza. Riccardo Ricciardi criticized Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s government for not recognizing the State of Palestine, despite widespread global recognition. Ricciardi accused the government of complicity in the ongoing conflict, calling it a “genocide” and condemning their support for what he described as “the greatest massacre of this century.”
