Far-right Republican Party candidate José Antonio Kast won the second round of Chile’s presidential election, securing 58.2% of the vote, according to official results from Chile’s Electoral Service. His rival, Jeannette Jara of the Union for Chile alliance, received 41.8%.
Kast, who campaigned on tough security measures, border controls, and deportations, declared victory in Santiago, promising to restore security and order. He will take office as Chile’s new president on March 11, 2026.
