A fire broke out at the El-Mercan Paint Factory, located in the south of Baghdad, the capital of Iraq for an unknown reason. After the flames grew in a short time and spread to the area, many firefighters and first aid teams were sent to the scene.

The Iraqi Civil Defense Directorate reported that more than 20 firefighters intervened in the fire, and it was brought under control before spreading to the surrounding warehouses.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Budapest Hosts Turkic States Summit

Budapest is set to host the Organization of Turkic States (TDT) Informal Summit on May 20–21, marking the first time a country with observer status, Hungary, will host the event. The city has been decorated with TDT flags ahead of the summit, which will take place at the historic Varkert Bazar near the Danube.

Leaders from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Hungary are expected to attend. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will also hold bilateral talks during his visit.

The summit will focus on deepening strategic cooperation among Turkic states, with discussions on economic ties, security, and cultural heritage. The event will conclude with the adoption of the Budapest Declaration.
