A fire broke out on a multi-million-dollar super yacht anchored in Chaong Bay, Phuket Island, on Monday. The blaze, which began for unknown reasons, was noticed by nearby boats, prompting intervention by Thai Navy emergency ships. No one was on board at the time, and the fire was contained after 3.5 hours, leaving the 34.2-meter French-made yacht unusable.
Phuket Maritime Office Manager Nachapong Pranit confirmed that the yacht, which was available for rent, suffered extensive damage with its hull reduced to ashes. The Coast Guard towed the vessel to port, and an investigation into the cause of the fire has been launched.
