Firefighters brought back to life a cat whose heart stopped after poisoning by smoke during a house fire in Beyoğlu, Istanbul, Türkiye. The cat’s owner watched the fire department’s intervention in tears.
Apart from the cat, the firefighters rescued 2 people in the building and another resident fled the building on his own.
On the final day of the Eid al-Adha holiday, traffic came to a standstill at the Kocaeli crossing of the Northern Marmara Highway as thousands began returning to Istanbul.
Congestion intensified due to occasional accidents and vehicle breakdowns. Gendarmerie and highway crews are working continuously to keep traffic flowing. Aerial footage showed long lines of vehicles stretching along the route.
