A firefighting helicopter that responded to the fire on Greece’s Samos Island crashed into the sea. The helicopter, which took off at 16:39 local time to respond to the fire on the island, was reported to have gotten out of control due to the strong winds in the area and crashed at 17:55 local time. There were four crew members on the helicopter, one Greek, two Moldovans, and one Romanian; two were rescued alive, and two were missing.
The Greek Coast Guard and the Greek Air Force launched an unmanned aerial vehicle and helicopter-assisted search and rescue operation for the two missing crew members, authorities said.
