US-based Firefly Aerospace released images of the Moon’s far side, taken by its Blue Ghost spacecraft from 100 kilometers above. The company shared the footage on social media, calling it a glimpse of being “almost home.”
Launched on January 15 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9, Blue Ghost entered lunar orbit on February 13 and is set to attempt a soft landing on March 2. If successful, it will become the second private spacecraft to land on the Moon, following Intuitive Machines’ Odysseus mission. The lander’s surface operations are expected to last 14 days.
