The first permanent US military garrison in Poland, called Camp Kosciuszko, started its operations with a ceremony in the city of Poznan. Military officials from the two countries and Polish Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak attended the opening ceremony.
“This is a historic moment, a sign that the United States is committed to Poland and NATO, and that we are united in the face of Russian aggression,” Mariusz Błaszczak said at the opening ceremony.
Additionally, with the opening of a garrison in Poland, the number of permanent military bases of the United States in Europe has expanded to eight, including permanent garrisons in Belgium, Germany, and Italy. The first garrison in Poland will now accommodate 13 military officials and 140 civilian employees.
