First Private Spacewalk Performed in Low-Earth Orbit

Jared Isaacman, one of the four civilian astronauts who arrived in low-earth orbit with SpaceX’s Dragon capsule as part of the Polaris Dawn space mission, performed the first private spacewalk attempt in history at an altitude of 732 kilometers.

Billionaire businessman Jared Isaacman, who financed the special mission, military pilot Scott Poteet and SpaceX engineers Anna Menon and Sarah Gillis left the world from the Kennedy Space Station on September 10 to perform the first private spacewalk in history, conduct a series of scientific experiments and test the laser-based communication capabilities of the Starlink satellites.
