It is the first time an Israeli minister pays an official visit to Bahrain after the agreement on the normalization of relations between the two countries. According to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid and his Bahraini counterpart Abdullatif bin Rashid ez-Zeyyani will inaugurate the Israeli embassy in Manama.
The commercial flights also start with an agreement signed between the two countries for 2 weekly flights to be operated by Bahrain-based Gulf Air. Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Idan Roll, who will open the flight line between the two countries, said: “Bahrain is an important commercial destination for the Israeli state and opening a flight line between the two countries is an important strategic step that will make a great contribution to the Israeli economy.”
