The number of people who died in the flood disaster that occurred after heavy rain in the regions of Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast is increasing. Burgas police chief Emil Pavlov stated that they have found one more body, and the death toll has increased to three. Meanwhile, the rain caused rivers to overflow and dealt major damage to bridges.
According to Fire Chief Alexandar Dzhartov, the rainfall has been the heaviest since 1994.
Russia bombed a prison in Ukraine’s Zaporizhia region, killing 17 inmates and injuring 42, according to Ukraine’s Ministry of Justice. The airstrike hit Bilenke Prison with four bombs, causing heavy damage. Ukrainian officials condemned the attack as a violation of international law and labeled it a war crime.
Zaporizhia is among the regions Russia claims to have annexed in 2022, though it remains mostly under Ukrainian control.
