Seven people, including 3 children, have died and over 1,700 were displaced in floods caused by torrential rains that have been ongoing for a week in Botswana, according to Botswana President Duma Boko.
“We need to rethink our infrastructure planning so that our national infrastructure can cope with floods as well as drought,” President Boko said.
Authorities have temporarily shut down schools and closed roads after more than a week of torrential rain in the country.
