Torrential rains in Türkiye’s Istanbul province caused severe floods in the Başakşehir district. Hundreds of workplaces and residences, shopping malls, subways and a large hospital flooded in the district. Dozens of people were trapped in a flooded library. Authorities stated that two people, including one foreign national, died in the city and five people were injured.

Ancient Sacred Hearths Restored in Türkiye

Two sacred hearths dating back to 4000–3200 BC have been restored following excavations at Tadım Castle and Mound in Elazığ, eastern Türkiye.

Governor Numan Hatipoğlu said the hearths, adorned with human and bull figures, reflect early beliefs and family-centered rituals. The artifacts, unearthed by the Elazığ Archeology and Ethnography Museum team, will soon be displayed at the museum.
