Severe flooding in New South Wales, Australia, has left two people dead and hundreds of homes without power following heavy rainfall. Thousands were stranded as roads closed and education was suspended across the state.

Premier Chris Minns warned of more bad news ahead and apologized for delays in rescue operations. Authorities say 2,500 emergency workers are responding, while the Bureau of Meteorology warned of continued rain and possible flash floods.
