Footage Shows Seized Russian Oil Tanker in North Atlantic

The US Coast Guard said it seized the Russian-flagged oil tanker Marinera, formerly known as Bella 1, during an operation in the North Atlantic carried out with support from the US Department of Defense. The vessel had previously changed its name, route, and flag in an apparent attempt to avoid US sanctions enforcement while allegedly carrying sanctioned oil. US authorities said the tanker was tracked for weeks before being intercepted and boarded. The seizure follows President Donald Trump’s order to tighten enforcement against sanctioned oil shipments linked to Venezuela.
