A forest fire broke out in the Şarköy district of Tekirdağ, Turkey. Firefighters came to the area in a short time and extinguished the fire. The fire, supported by a helicopter from the air, was largely under control.
4 hectares of forest area was damaged in the fire.
The ancient city of Kibyra in Burdur’s Gölhisar district, historically known as the “city of gladiators,” offered a stunning backdrop during the Perseid meteor shower on August 12-13. Renowned for its Roman-era structures and multi-layered history, Kibyra is on UNESCO’s World Heritage Tentative List since 2016. Visitors were treated to views of the Odeon, Medusa mosaic, and monumental fountain, all set against the illuminated night sky over the Gölhisar Plain.
