The forest fires caused by the severe drought and heat wave that affected Europe continue. About 600 firefighters and helicopters have been battling the flames since Sunday in the western central European country of Slovenia. The villages of Sela na Krasu, Hudi Log, Korita na Krasu and Nova Vas were evacuated due to the fire in Krast, located on the Italian border. Reinforcement teams were called from other parts of the country as the flames approached the settlement. 5 firefighters were admitted to the hospital with mild burns and respiratory distress.
Temperatures will continue to rise until Saturday, according to Slovenian officials.
