A forest fire that broke out in the suburban areas north of Perth, the capital of the Australian state of Western Australia, has burned 1,500 hectares of land to ashes so far. Western Australia Deputy Prime Minister Rita Saffioti stated that the flames have injured many firefighters and destroyed 10 houses.
The temperature is expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius, and the fires are expected to continue for a few more days.
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova confirmed that Russia officially recognizes Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan. The statement followed backlash over Russian Vice President Vladimir Medinsky’s remarks referring to the region as “disputed.”
Zakharova clarified that Medinsky was discussing the humanitarian aspect of the conflict and urged against misinterpreting his words. Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry criticized Medinsky’s comments and reminded that Russia’s official stance recognizes Karabakh as Azerbaijani territory.
