forest fires in northern Mexico

The fight against forest fires continues in Mexico. In the statement made by the Mexican National Forestry Commission (Conafor), it was stated that 42 active forest fires were reported in the last 24 hours. While the fires were mostly effective in the northern states of the country, the authorities stated that 1,395 firefighters took part in the fight against the flames and provided aerial support to the works with extinguishing helicopters and planes.

1,300 hectares of land have been destroyed so far in the fire, which broke out in the city of Santiago in the northern province of Nuevo Leon and has not yet been extinguished. The fight against the fire that broke out on March 17 in El Cielo Ecological Park in Tamaulipas state still continues. Authorities reported that 60 percent of the fire has been brought under control so far, and 730 hectares of land have turned to ash.
