French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu announced on his social media account that the first batch of French-made “Mirage 2000-5” fighter jets, which will support Ukraine’s air defense, has been delivered to Ukraine.
“French President Emmanuel Macron previously announced that French Mirage 2000s would be delivered to Ukraine on June 6, 2024. The first of these arrived in Ukraine today. The planes, which will be used by Ukrainian pilots who received months of training in France, will now defend the skies of Ukraine,” the French minister said in his post.
No details were given regarding the number of planes sent.
Ukraine received its first shipment of US-made F-16 fighter jets last August.
