France has enforced a nationwide smoking ban in public areas including parks, beaches, bus stops, and school zones to protect children from second-hand smoke. The regulation, part of the 2023–2027 National Anti-Tobacco Program, builds on previous local bans and supports the goal of a smoke-free generation by 2032.
An awareness period is underway before fines of €135 are applied. Selling tobacco or e-cigarettes to minors is now banned, with a €200 fine for violations. Restaurant and café terraces remain exempt.
