In Mecca, pilgrims who perform the Umrah Tawaf and Say are required to cut their hair and exit ihram. Traditionally, this was done with personal scissors or mobile barbers (hallaks) charging around 5 rials.
This year, a new free haircut service has been introduced for pilgrims holding Nusuk cards. Barber stands set up in golf carts near the Marwa Gate offer haircuts for both men and women. Men queue openly, while women are served behind a covered area by female barbers.
Female Turkish pilgrims from Germany expressed satisfaction with the convenient and modest setup. Male pilgrims also welcomed the hygienic and organized service.
